April 2,2020
Port Congestion Surcharge - Reefer Cargo into Manila, PH
Dear Customer,
We would like to inform you that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Manila port is impacted by a slowdown of productivity resulting in limited reefer plug availability.
Hamburg Süd continues to accept reefer bookings into Manila strictly on the following conditions, which the customer is deemed to have accepted:
1) We do not guarantee the cargo routing nor take any responsibility for the delivery time. Cargo arriving in the port of Manila is being diverted to alternative locations until the port is able to receive reefers again.
This situation is outside of our control and is also affecting cargo already in transit to mentioned destination port.
2) Hamburg Süd will apply effective April 6, 2020 based on the rate applicability date of the booking a Port Congestion Surcharge of USD 1,000 per container for ALL reefer cargo into Manila to cover the additional cost of re-routing. On any regulated corridor the effective date will be May 1, 2020.
We are monitoring the situation and depending on the development we will determine if further measures need to be taken.
Thank you for your understanding. For more information, please feel free to
